5A. ETERNAL FUTILITY [SHUDHU JAOYA ASHA, shudhu shrote bhasha

केबल चला जाना,
 केबल फिर बापस आना ;
केबल श्रोतमे भासते रहना ;
केबल आलोमे अंधेरेमे 
हसना या रोना !!२ 

केबल छोके चली जाना
केबल जाते जाते
रोके रोके पीछू नज़र डालना। ३


केबल नया आशा लेके
आगे चले जाना ;
पीछे छोर जाना
झूटी आशा।

सीमा हीना आशा
दुबला भरोषा
मेहनत जितने भी हो
     फलमे निराशा
तोड़ फोड़ तरी
    पाकड़के धरी
दरिया पार की स्वप्ना। ४
दिल रोटी हैय ,
बोलने की नहीं मिले भाषा।

दिल से दिल मिले 

आधा आधा 

पूरी बात बोलनेको 

হৃদয়ে হৃদয়ে আধো পরিচয়,

Heart to heart communications remains half-complete,

আধখানি কথা সাঙ্গ নাহি হয়,

If half of the word is told, untold remains the other half-

লাজে ভয়ে ত্রাসে আধো-বিশ্বাসে

In shyness, in fear of risk, in anxiety, in half-grown trust,

শুধু আধখানি ভালোবাসা ॥4

Alas, only to end up a life, tasting a half-grown love !!

শুধু যাওয়া আসা,

Only to come and go,

শুধু স্রোতে ভাসা,

only to float with the flow

শুধু আলো-আঁধারে কাঁদা-হাসা ॥1

Only in light and darkness,

some laughter and cries !

শুধু দেখা পাওয়া,

Only to have a meet,

শুধু ছুঁয়ে যাওয়া,

only to get a touch, then go !

শুধু দূরে যেতে যেতে কেঁদে চাওয়া,

Only to cry, looking back while going forth !

শুধু নব দুরাশায় আগে চ'লে যায়—

Only with new high hopes, going far and far,

পিছে ফেলে যায় মিছে আশা ॥2

Leaving behind false and lost up hopes, ever.

অশেষ বাসনা লয়ে ভাঙা বল,

Having endless desires, with strength inapt,

প্রাণপণ কাজে পায় ভাঙা ফল,

The intense efforts, yielding impaired result ,

ভাঙা তরী ধ'রে ভাসে পারাবারে,

Boarding broken boat, to sail across the ocean,

ভাব কেঁদে মরে-- ভাঙা ভাষা।3

Emotions crying for expression, words limp often.

হৃদয়ে হৃদয়ে আধো পরিচয়,
